  • Unit 1: Terminology and Terminology Management

    In this module, we will build on a basic understanding in terminology and how to manage a term base. Then we will learn about why we need a term base in the first place, and what the basic elements of a term sheet are. At the end of this module, we will learn about terminology applications including translation oriented term bases and glossaries.

    • Explore what terminology is, how concepts, terms, and metadata are organized, and why terminology management is essential for writing and translation.

    • Learn how different terminology applications support translators, organizations, and knowledge sharing, with real examples of translation- and domain-oriented termbases.

    • Receive a grade Receive a passing grade

      Complete the Unit 1 assessment. You must achieve at least 80% to pass and unlock access to Unit 2.

  • Unit 2: Developing Terminology Resources

    This unit introduces the process of building a term base: extracting terms, adding target language equivalents, and validating them. You will learn how terminology supports translators and how to create high-quality resources step by step.
